As the world grows increasingly more reliant on technology, students must learn how to be technologically literate to be well-prepared for the work force. Internships at the Edmond Low Library are one way that undergraduate students can be introduced to technology and gain skills that will make them valuable employees. For the Digital Humanities and Podcasting Interns, learning how to use tools such as Tableau and Open Refine, navigate online databases and archives, create blogs, story maps and podcasts, and experience the process of creating oral histories is immensely valuable. Through learning these skills, the interns are introduced to and get to practice the concepts of using technology to find an answer to a research question, searching for information and synthesizing that information into a cohesive thesis, and writing non-academic material for large audiences. This paper, a collaboration between Tanner Luther and Claire Ringer, explores how teaching students about technology makes them a more marketable employee that is able to learn new tools and survive in the modern, technology driven work-force.
