Data Security and Open Science

Daisha Pennie has a varied, 15-year background in the IT field, including the areas of Data Center Operations, Mainframe Production Services, Oracle Database System Administration, Security, Compliance, and she currently manages the IT Risk Management department. Early in her professional career, Daisha worked as a List Management specialist, which gave her a peek at the world of datasets, the need for clean data, and standards around data. With a vision to set the bar for IT Risk Management in Higher Education, Daisha's team has assisted multiple University units with securing their data and processes.  She’s updated, written, and helped establish many organizational technology and security policies for OSU and the A&M System.

 

Daisha graduated with her B.A. from OSU in 2005. Following her graduation, she started with a global technology company before joining OSU’s staff. She’s contributed to multiple information security conferences both as a speaker and panelist on the topics of vulnerability management, security professional writing, and the differences between security and compliance. She’s a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
