2022 CADRE Awards
Do you have a data project or visualization that you are proud of? Consider submitting it to the CADRE Data Science Awards competition.
Award Details
Must be currently enrolled as an OSU undergraduate or graduate student
Research, class, or independent projects are eligible
Team projects are eligible but award stipend will be divided between team members
Must be non-sensitive, non-proprietary data
Submit no later than April 29th
Awardees notified by May 9th
Dell Intel Student Award for Outstanding Use of Data Science and Computing

The OSU Coalition for the Advancement of Digital Research and Education (CADRE) is partnering with Dell Technologies and Intel to recognize the exceptional use of data science and computing by a student, graduate or undergraduate. Up to two awards will be presented with a certificate of recognition, a $700 stipend for the first place award and $300 stipend for the second place award.

Interworks Student Data Visualization Award

The OSU Coalition for the Advancement of Digital Research and Education (CADRE) will recognize exceptional use of data visualization by a student (graduate or undergraduate). The data may be original research data or may be secondary, open data. A copy of the data set should be included as part of the submission. One award will be presented with a certificate of recognition and a $500 stipend, made possible through the generosity of InterWorks.
Awards Selection
Awards will be selected on the basis of effective and creative use of data science strategies and tools including but not limited to:
- An interdisciplinary approach to problem solving involving big data
- Statistical data analysis using appropriate software
- Application of informatics tools
- Image processing
- Use of AI
- Communication of results using data visualization
Projects may only be submitted by currently enrolled OSU graduate or undergraduate students. Team projects are eligible but award stipend will be divided between submitters.
Submissions must be received no later than April 29th. Award recipients will be notified by May 6th.
Projects may be submitted as a poster, presentation slides, a script with output such as a Markdown file or a demonstration with a brief narrated video. Submissions must include:
- Explanation of the problem and description of the dataset
- Strategy to solve the problem
- Description of software and computing tools
- Example of the output
- Evaluation of the approach
